Riding a motorbike down the freeway the wind in your face and the sun on your back feeling free is for many the best experience in the world, it is a life that many could not imagine living without.
When you are going on a long ride on your bike, there are many things you will have to be aware of, first of all, you will have to make sure your bike is up for the ride, a general check of your bike is something you must do. The to do list for making your bike ready is to check tires, sparkplugs, the chain, air filter, make sure you check out your lights are working, and you fill up on fluids and lubricate break and clutch cable.
Once you have done that, make sure you pack the amount of weight you will be travelling with in bags and take the bike for a short test drive. You will have to tighten suspension for the added weight to make sure you have a comfortable ride.
Once all this is done you are now ready to pack the clothes into bags and make sure you travel safe, the best place to store your gear on your bike is as far front as you can, making sure the weight is distributed evenly.
All depending on when you are travelling you have to pack appropriate clothes, remember to pack gear for rain, cold, sun and remember pack lightly.
Remember to pack an emergency kit for you ride, things like a clutch cable and a brake cable and the most necessary things for patching a flat tire and making small repairs on the side of the road.
When you are on the road you have to make sure you are riding comfortable, just like when you are on the road in any other vehicle you have to stay alerted and make sure you do not get into accidents. Make stops along the way with regular intervals and make sure you are properly hydrated and get enough to eat. Like when you are driving a car you have to stop and sleep and not drive sleepy, it is far too dangerous to do so.
If you are driving in a larger group, then remember to make sure all are in the pack and does not get left behind. You already have the road mapped out in advance, and you stick to your plan, in that way you are sure to have plenty of time, and you are not forced to hurry up and get stressed.
It is also important you stick to speed limits and let other commuters pass if they are driving faster than you are, you are out for a long ride, and you should not force anything.
All depending on what bike you are riding, make sure to stop at regular intervals, there is a huge difference in riding a Honda Golden Wing or a small bike stripped of the comfort you will find in the bigger machines.
Also, if you can put on a more comfortable seat, your backside will love you for it.
